Mar Gregorios Karunya Nilayam, located very near to the Government Medical College Hospital, Gandhinagar, Kottayam – 686 008, an institution providing various services (free- food, medicine, accommodation etc.) to the poor, the sick, and the needy.
Free Lunch
Every day, Karunya Nilayam provides free lunch to the financially backward patients and their by-standers at the Kottayam Medical College and to the poor and needy who come to our institution for food. At present, we serve lunch for more than 1000 persons daily.
Free Medical Aid
Karunya Nilayam provides free medicines to the poor and the needy patients of Medical College, Kottayam and the Cancer Care Centre. The Almighty God makes it possible for us to provide medicines which cost up to Rs 5,000/- on a daily basis. Those who avail this aid is required to bring a letter of introduction, from responsible persons of their respective communities. In order to help in this area, we also collect sample medicines from the doctors who practice in and around the Kottayam Medical College and distribute the medicines free of cost to the patients as per prescription.
Free Accommodation for Cancer Patients
Karunya Nilayam also provides free accommodation to the poor and the needy cancer patients during their period of radiation treatment. We are able to accommodate 48 patients at a time. This service is especially beneficial to many poor cancer patients, who come from far off places who are allowed to stay on here irrespective of their caste or religion.
Hospital Visits
The priests at Karunya Nilayam as well as the students of the Orthodox Theological Seminary undergoing training at this institution pay daily visits to the patients in the hospitals, offer prayers for them and provide services to meet their spiritual and church - related needs.

We give special attention to help the new patients find suitable doctors and the necessary medical facilities to suit their needs.
