On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Karunya Nilayam, the organizers thought of starting a special Treatment Assistance Project for the benefit of young cancer patients from financially backward families. In 2005, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, then President of India inaugurated a new venture of Karunya Nilayam which has been aptly named Light of Life, to offer free cancer treatment to poor juvenile cancer patients. This will benefit poor children up to 15 years of age affected by cancer who have more than 50% chance to get cured. Now under this project, children from different parts of Kerala are undergoing treatment at the R.C.C, Trivandrum. We are trying our best to increase the number of beneficiaries according to the availability of funds. We express our sincere gratitude to all the donors, especially to those who aresponsoring children. Now we are helping the Student Cancer Patients at Kottayam Medical College also. Conditions are the same as those in R.C.C.This project is overseen by His Holiness the Catholicos of the East and His Grace Geevarghese Mar Ivanios. A 51 member Director Board give leadership to the special project.

2. 'Hriday Asha’
This is the latest venture of the Karunya Nilayam.The project aims at giving free medicines etc. to elderly heart-patients who are too old and weak to go in for heart surgery. Many of these patients are past theirprime and surgical interventions are impossible in their cases. So we plan to meet the cost of medicines for poor patients under our new project which is aptly named ‘Hriday Asha’
His Excellency Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Hon’ble Chief Justice of India inaugurated the new project on 10th April 2010. His beatitude Paulose Mar Milithiose Metropolitan, Catholicose Designate, presided over the function.
